Story Of Voyager (Caretaker)
Roxanne — 16 Nov 1998

Sung to The Battle of New Orleans by Jimmy Driftwood

In the 24th cent'ry we
We took a little trip
Into the gaseous badlands
To find a Maquis ship.
We ran into some trouble
Before we'd found our goal,
And an ion storm had grabbed us,
And had pulled us in a hole.

We fired our guns
And the Kazon kept a comin'
There wasn't quite as many
As there were a while ago.
We fired once more
And they began a runnin'
They ran back to their home base,
But they'd been a mighty foe.

The ship had taken damage
And as we looked around
We noticed that our stars were gone
And new ones would be found.
We met with the Caretaker
And asked to be sent home,
But he wouldn't do it for us,
So we're destined now to roam.

We fired our guns,
And the Kazon kept a comin'
There wasn't quite as many
As there were a while ago.
We fired once more
And they began a runnin'
They ran back to their home base,
But they'd been a mighty foe.

We learned about
A tiny child-like race,
That the caretaker had watched o'er them
From out in distant space.
To send us home
Would put them at a risk,
So then we destroyed the station,
And around this space we frisk.

We fired our guns
And the Kazon kept a comin'
There wasn't quite as many
As there were a while ago.
We fired once more
And they began a runnin'
They ran back to their home base,
But they'd been a mighty foe.

Then we flew through stars;
We flew through the gases.
We flew through spaces
That a star ship shouldn't go.
We picked up aliens
Who wanted to come with us.
So we put them on our ship;
We didn't want to make a foe.

We fought a ton of strangers
'til the fighting made us sick.
We met a few we liked a lot
And learned what made them tick
We fixed the ship with rubber bands
And paper clips besides
But we couldn't know
What we would find,
or what the next star hides.

We fired our guns
And the Kazon kept a comin'
There wasn't quite as many
As there were a while ago.
We fired once more,
And they began a runnin'
They ran back to their home base,
But they'd been a mighty foe.

Then we flew through stars,
We flew through the gases.
We flew through spaces
Where a star ship shouldn't go.
We picked up aliens
Who wanted to come with us.
So we put them on our ship
We didn't want to make a foe.
