"Tell me something, Tuvok. What does your logic tell you about navigating a maze that's constantly changing shape?" -- Chakotay

This should have been the Season One finale. It certainly fits better at the end of the first season, showing the Senior Staff settled into their positions, but with some of the original tensions still apparent. Not to mention the salt and pepper in Chakotay's hair and B'Elanna's more pronounced ridges.

Chakotay and Tuvok finally coming clean about their differences was already overdue, and while they frequently continued to disagree they seemed to work better together after this. Chakotay came off pretty well in this episode, not hesitating to take command and remind Tuvok of the fact but also showing his unofficial ship's counselor side with Neelix and Torres.

I hadn't watched this in a while and had forgotten how Klingon Torres's reactions were; her wanting to do something, not just sit back and let the anomaly run its course. The conversation Janeway has with Harry in the Jeffries Tube still sounds like she's getting ready to promote him.

I could have done without the Sandrine/Doctor business and Neelix's jealousy shtick, though at least he finally admitted he was jealous.

I still have to rewatch this one...

(been up "here" too many times in the last week to get "anything" fun done at home... ;-) )

... but  I liked the Doc as the bartender and being harassed by Sandrine.

On the other hand, I COMPLETELY :agree: with the overdone Jealousy bit with Neelix. It demeaned him as a character, and kept me (for years) from taking him seriously.

This ("Twisted") does work better as a season 1 ep... although I still would reserve "The 37's" as a "proper" season 1 finale.

Favorite moments...

although I have to admit, this was NOT one of the episodes that made me a Voyager-holic; its premise annoyed me with its sheer lack of plausibility, and still does.

But, with that nit attended to - I loved B'Elanna putting her hand into Chakotay's, and Tuvok so obviously wanting to reach out and touch the semi-conscious Janeway, as they waited for what they now knew was inevitable to hit them. Friends waiting together, to be overcome by the unknown.

THAT part was vintage "Voyager."

Even Tom put his hand (or vice versa?) on Harry's shoulder in that scene...

Sigh.

Agree with the implausiblity, not to mention the weird statements Janeway made in her post contact delusional state creating a "less than favorable" ep.

Also, I would have liked to hear them come back to the idea of investigating what the data was that the entity downloaded into Voy's databanks... kind of like the way they came back to the idea of trying to puzzle out in "Hope and Fear" what was in the message Starfleet had sent previously in "Hunters".

Of course, although they didn't maintain continuity with this mysterious info.... they DID continually return to that wonderful plot device... The Jabelian fudge cake!
